About this Course

This is an online option. Learn how to paint an ocean scene in watercolor using a simple and fun approach. We will start the class by practicing different types of water scenes using the wet and wet techniques. Learn how to make reflections in the water on still water by simplifying the process. Painting water could be challenging, but with the right technique, you can create the water illusion. At the end of the class, we will use the dry brush technique to create waves in the ocean. All demos will be live on zoom and you will get reference pictures and all detailed class materials when you sign up for the class. The class will be recorded so you can review it at your own time. Basic materials you should have for this class: -Cold press or rough watercolor paper - Basic set of watercolor paints - Set of watercolor brushes include round brushes number 4, 6, 10, or 12 and a rigger brush for details. A flat brush will be helpful to paint washes. - Masking fluid - Colors Let’s have different types of blues for this class Ultramarine blue Pthalo blue Cerulean blue Cobalt teal blue You don’t have to have all of them, but it is good to have a variety. A more detailed list of materials will be sent when you sign up for the class. Elvira Rascov is a watercolor and ceramics artist from Colombia. Her art reflects the techniques she learned in her watercolor and oil painting classes in Colombia. She studied painting with Francisco Ariza son of Gonzalo Ariza a well-known artist in Colombia. Francisco Ariza taught her sketching techniques in Plein air with oil paints, watercolor, and ink. For the past 24 years, Elvira has lived in California. The beautiful Californian landscapes have been her inspiration for her watercolors and oils.
